Melbourne Buffers is an incorporated association, formed in 2004, and part of a broader national and international initiative; a network of Buffers clubs and associations. There are clubs in Perth, Sydney, New Zealand, Johannesburg, Adelaide, and more recently Brisbane and Durban.
There is, however, a longer history of efforts aimed at organising the expatriate South African community in Melbourne and other states.
Melbourne Buffers are located in the South East of Melbourne and have a growing support base. Like the other Buffers clubs, although we have a strong South African membership, we draw members from all sectors of the community to celebrate our different diverse and rich cultures.
We are really about organising a space where we can come together to celebrate culture, and promote diversity. We play sport - including soccer and golf - and we have a fishing club. We are ever growing! For us it's very much about coming together around things we all enjoy!
